BCE School Community join me in welcoming our new Assistant Principal, Mr. Barry White to Cougar Country!

Fun Facts about Mr. White:
Mr. White earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Claflin University and obtained his School Administrative license from Queens University’s School of Executive Leadership.
Mr. White served as a fifth-grade teacher at Ashley Park Pre-K-8 Elementary for six years and completed his principal internship there before transitioning to the Dean of Students at University Park Creative Arts.
In 2016, Mr. White discovered that a practice he’d implemented as a sign of trust between him and his students, had gone viral. Mr. White’s increasing popularity stemmed from the recording, which depicted him giving personalized handshakes to each of his students, attracting attention all over the world. His purpose—to stress the importance of individuality and the positive impact that giving individualized attention to each student can have. Mr. White received the 2019 Black fathers rock Surrogate Father of the year and the CMPD & Community MVP award for his outstanding work in the community and the city of Charlotte. He has also been featured in the Charlotte Observer, highlighting his efforts in starting after-school programs at his school. Mr. White has made appearances on multiple national television shows including the Steve Harvey Show, The Today’s Show, Good Morning America, and other national publications. It is his goal to create opportunities that will generate collegiate interests amongst students and propel them to strive for greatness beyond their local surroundings. Barry White Jr. has been instrumental in youth empowerment, encouraging youth to utilize their platforms and gifts to motivate and inspire others. He believes in pushing children to be global leaders, fostering both universal and cultural awareness.
