AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: LITTLE STICKS LACROSSE K-5TH

Little Sticks Lacrosse provides students with an introduction to the sport of lacrosse in an age-appropriate and enthusiastic way. Little Sticks uses fundamentals and skill-based games to enforce good character and team work to develop fundamental skills, and ultimately, a love for the game.

We had a great first week of teaching and learning in Cougar Country.

Please read the information below as we prepare for upcoming events and focus on keeping our school community safe and healthy.

Face Coverings – As a reminder for the safety of our school community, all individuals on campus are required to wear face coverings.  It is essential that students follow this guidance and wear their masks properly so they can avoid being quarantined if there is a positive case of COVID.

COVID Symptoms – If your child or anyone in your home is displaying COVID symptoms or is waiting for COVID test results please allow your child to stay at home.

Uniform Policy – The primary and intermediate campuses will continue to be uniform schools. Students are allowed to wear navy, white, and Carolina blue tops. Students are allowed to wear navy and khaki bottoms. Students are allowed to wear BCE spirit shirts on Fridays with uniform bottoms. READ THE UNIFORM POLICY

Reading Rocks – Remember to continue to track your summer reading logs! If you do not have your reading log, you can log your summer reading on a document of your choice or download a log HERE. Logs are due to your teacher by Friday, September 10.

  • BOX TOPS: Please download the Box Tops app to scan store receipts and click here to learn how to get Box Tops credit from online orders. If you have clipped Box Tops, please send them with your kids to school, and they’ll be picked up in the PTA room.

Become an ALP Literacy Tutor!

Discover the joy of helping an aspiring reader unlock reading. For 90% of poor readers, early intensive intervention like ALP tutors provide can increase reading ability to an average skill level. ALP prepares tutors during 5 days of training. Tutors work with students twice weekly for a total of 60 sessions. To learn more, register for an information session @ www.alpcharlotte.org/register.

VOLUNTEER: SHARE YOUR TIME AND TALENTS!

  • Communications: Cougar Newsletter, Websites, Social Media or Digital Marquees!
  • Community Partners/Sponsors: Work to build relationships with local businesses.
  • Copy Room: Teachers and Staff often need help making copies as well as work/assembly for a classroom project(s).
  • Declutter/Organization Projects: The school could use more space and extra hands are needed to make this happen!
  • Events: Cougar Carnival
  • Fundraising Event: Pledges for Paws Co-Chair
  • IM/IB: Volunteer-led IMIB lessons to our students. Sign up during your classroom visit.
  • Men of Billingsville-Cotswold Elementary: Volunteer group for dads/grandfathers/friends.
  • Room Parent: Sign up during your classroom visit.
