VOLUNTEER FOR HOUR OF CODE!

Choose An Hour Between December 6th Through 13th

Let’s reach every Billingsville and Cotswold student by teaching
the basics of coding in a fun easy way for 1 hour.
NO coding experience needed!
Male and Female volunteers are appreciated.

Follow these simple instructions to sign up today:

  1. Register as a CMS Volunteer (unless registered) at www.cmsvolunteers.com
  2. Sign up for a class on Sign Up Genius
  3. Preview the campus appropriate coding game/lesson ahead of time:
    • Billingsville Campus suggestion
    • Cotswold Campus suggestion
    • Other modules available here
  4. On December 6th through 13th, one volunteer per class will facilitate the Hour of Code in person in STEAM class by:
  5. Talking a few minutes about why computers are important
  6. Showing the following video (alternative videos are available on the HOC website) to get people excited:
  7. Running through the module (Steam teacher will be present and can help facilitate)
  8. Have fun! Other useful information and tools, Take some time to prepare ahead of the class.

PIE DAY

We are delighted to continue our tradition of giving every Billingsville-Cotswold Teacher and Staff Member a Pie for Thanksgiving. Due to COVID-19, we are unable to accept any donated or homemade pies this year. Please consider sponsoring a pie for just $10 per pie via ParentSquare. MATH AND LITERACY TUTORS NEEDED

Virtual Math Tutors Needed 1Hr/Wk!

Become an ALP Literacy Tutor!

Discover the joy of helping an aspiring reader unlock reading. For 90% of poor readers, early intensive intervention like ALP tutors provide can increase reading ability to an average skill level. ALP prepares tutors during 5 days of training. Tutors work with students twice weekly for a total of 60 sessions. To learn more, register for an information session @ www.alpcharlotte.org/register.

  • Communications: Cougar Newsletter, Websites, Social Media or Digital Marquees!
  • Community Partners/Sponsors: Work to build relationships with local businesses.
  • Copy Room: Teachers and Staff often need help making copies as well as work/assembly for a classroom project(s).
  • Declutter/Organization Projects: The school could use more space and extra hands are needed to make this happen!
  • Events: Cougar Carnival
  • Fundraising Event: Pledges for Paws Co-Chair
  • IM/IB: Volunteer-led IMIB lessons to our students. Sign up during your classroom visit.
  • Men of Billingsville-Cotswold Elementary: Volunteer group for dads/grandfathers/friends.
  • Room Parent: Sign up during your classroom visit.
