Congratulations to Ms. Burke and Mr. Crawford, our May staff members of the month! To celebrate, each of you will receive a gift card to your favorite store and from local partner, The Butler’s Pantry. Your pictures are also posted in the office at each campus! Highlights from your nominations:

Ms. Burke (Teacher Mentor): “Mrs. Burke is a star at both BCE campuses. The care and energy that she puts into our students is phenomenal. Her responsibilities range from mentoring, teaching, supporting, assisting, developing, etc. Somehow she manages to complete each and every one of her duties. Mrs. Burke spends long nights and weekends working on various projects. She is genuinely dedicated to the success of our schools.”

Mr. Crawford (Head Custodian): “Mr. Crawford always has a big smile to greet people, he’s happy to help in any way he can, and he truly enjoys helping with school activities. He’s such a joy to be around!”

There’s one more chance this school year to recognize our awesome BCE staff members! Anyone can submit a nomination to recognize the May Staff Members of the Month. Congratulations to Emma Siegle, Spanish teacher at Billingsville-Cotswold Elementary, Cotswold Campus, for being selected as the CMS April Beginning Teacher of the Month!

Emma was nominated by her principal, Alicia Hash, New Teacher mentor, Dianne Burke and Charity Prelipp, 5th Grade Teacher! They wrote:

“Ms. Siegel has done an amazing job as a first-year teacher. As our IB Spanish Teacher she has brought a love of learning for Foreign Language. Her lessons are engaging and hands-on and students enjoy going to her class. Ms. Siegel has also jumped in as a team player! She is a bus lot leader, Fifth Grade Math Co-Teacher when needed, a mentor to our Fifth Grade Girls, an after-school tutor, and an extra set of hands whenever duty calls. Ms. Siegel really is just an amazingly sweet person and really cares about the kids and me. She is beyond willing to help me in any way, shape, or form-from making copies and grabbing supplies, to pulling a student to help them with their work or mentoring them when they’re having a bad day. With my health, she has stepped in for a few minutes to let me take care of any physical needs. She participates in our morning meetings and has really become part of our class. The kids adore her and love Spanish this year, in a way I haven’t seen in a long time. We are so excited to have her as part of the BCE Community!”

Highlights from your nominations:

Mrs. Blanchett (Kindergarten): “Mrs. Blanchett does a phenomenal job teaching her kindergarten students! Her classroom routines are in place, her 5- and 6-year-old students know EXACTLY what to do, and they are very well-behaved. I often hear her give them instruction and follow it up with “my loves”! It is apparent that there is much love between both students and teacher!”

Ms. Johnson (Media): “Ms. Johnson always does an amazing job at engaging with and teaching our students about all of the wonderful things in the media center. She has also organized a great system for students to come support her in the mornings before the final bell. Ms. Jamison (1st Grade): “Ms. Jamison is a phenomenal teacher! Her attention to the needs of all her students is remarkable. Her high energy level creates engagement from all students. Her level of communication with parents and families is awesome!”

Mr. Clutts (PE Teacher): “Mr. Clutts not only puts together a fun and rigorous program in the gym everyday, he also organizes extracurricular activities like the annual Charlotte Hornets Night at the Hive and the Hoops Contest. And, he is working to incorporate our EP students so that they can participate in Field Day. Furthermore, he stands out front every single morning welcoming students and their pets with smiles, waves, and dog treats. Not only does he know every student’s name, but he also remembers their dog’s name, too!”
